Visible marking, with deliberate strength
A diagonal mark is difficult to miss and works well for review copies. A centred, top or bottom mark is quieter when the label should remain visible without covering the heart of the page. Opacity controls how strongly the original content shows through.
Long wording is automatically scaled down when necessary so it stays within the page. The chosen size is therefore a maximum, not a promise that oversized text will be clipped.
What a watermark can and cannot prove
This writes visible text into each page's content. It is useful communication, but it is not access control, encryption, a digital signature or an irreversible forensic mark. A determined PDF editor may be able to remove it.
The original document is never modified. The download is a new PDF with the watermark added, while text and images already on the pages are copied without recompression.
Questions
+ Does the site add its own watermark?
No. Only the text you enter is added. There is no logo, footer, branding or page cap.
+ Is this the same as password protection?
No. A visible watermark tells a reader how the copy should be treated; it does not prevent opening, printing, copying or editing.
+ Is every page marked?
Yes. The same text, position, size and opacity are applied to every page in each PDF.
+ Which characters can I use?
Common Western European text is supported by the built-in PDF font. The row reports an error for characters that font cannot encode rather than silently replacing them.
+ Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. The PDF is read and rewritten by your own browser. Open devtools, watch the Network tab while you run it, and nothing leaves. The page keeps working with your connection switched off, which is the part worth caring about when the document is a payslip, a contract or a medical letter.
