NEET, JEE Main and CUET photo and signature

The National Testing Agency runs all three forms and publishes kilobyte bands, not pixel sizes. The signature is where the guides disagree, so this page uses the band that passes every version of it.

    One agency, three forms, one set of habits

    NEET UG, JEE Main and CUET UG are all run by the National Testing Agency, and the upload screens behave the same way on all three. Every file is a JPG or JPEG. Every limit is a band with a floor as well as a ceiling. And the numbers NTA publishes are kilobytes, not pixels: the automatic validation on the portal checks the weight and the format, then a person looks at the picture.

    That is why the pixel boxes above are editable starting points rather than rules. 350 × 450 is a 3.5 × 4.5 cm passport frame at a sensible resolution, and it lands comfortably inside the photograph band. If your own bulletin states a pixel size, type it in and run the file again.

    The signature band depends on which guide you read

    Three different signature bands are in circulation for the 2026 cycle, and they are not all wrong. They come from different bulletins and different years:

    A signature between 10 and 30 KB sits inside all three, so that is what the Signature button fills in. You do not have to work out which bulletin a guide was copied from. If yours states something else, both boxes stay editable. The same reasoning sets the finger impressions at 10 to 50 KB: some 2026 guides allow up to 200 KB, and a file under 50 satisfies either reading.

    The photograph has a date on it, in effect

    NEET asks for a photograph taken on or after 1 January of the exam year, and the same photograph has to be pasted on the admit card and matched against your face at the centre. Keep six or eight passport prints and four or five postcard prints from the same sitting; the counselling rounds ask for them again. A photo from last year's attempt is the wrong photo, however well it is sized.

    Guides for NEET 2026 also describe a live photograph taken through the webcam or phone camera during registration and matched against Aadhaar. That is in addition to the uploaded photograph, not a replacement for it, so you still need the file.

    A phone photograph of yourself is usually a HEIC file on an iPhone. This page opens those directly, decodes them on your own device and writes a real JPEG, so you do not need a separate converter first.

    Questions

    What is the photo size for NEET 2026?

    JPG or JPEG, between 10 KB and 200 KB, with a white background, the face filling about 80% of the frame and both ears visible. NEET also wants a 4 × 6 inch postcard photo in the same band. NTA does not state a pixel size, so this page starts at 350 × 450 for the passport photo and 800 × 1200 for the postcard.

    Is the JEE Main photo size the same as NEET?

    The photograph band is the same, 10 to 200 KB in JPG. JEE Main does not ask for the postcard photo or the finger impressions. The signature band is quoted differently in different guides, which is why this page uses 10 to 30 KB, the range that passes every version.

    My signature is under 10 KB and the form refuses it. Why?

    Because the floor is enforced as well as the ceiling. Ink on white paper compresses very well and often lands at 4 or 5 KB. Raise the width in the box above, or rescan at a higher resolution, and run it again.

    Can I upload the photo from my iPhone directly?

    Yes. Choose the HEIC file as it came off the phone. It is decoded in your browser and written out as a JPEG inside the band, without any upload.

    Is my photograph sent to your server?

    No. The resizing and the search for the right file size both run in your browser, on your own device. Nothing is sent anywhere, and there is no account.
